The parenting program is designed to bring parents, children and families closer together. The aim of the course is to look at the ways in which good parenting skills can improve communication between the child and parent by effective listening and positive interaction which in turn impacts upon the child behaviour.
The objective is to raise awareness of the complex and diverse effects this has on the emotional and social well being. The aim is to locate strategies which can be effective employed to form positive relationships by enhancing the bond between parents and children.
The course is not designed to be dictatorial but invites parents to share their own parenting skills with other parents, with a view to resolving issues.
Parenting can be challenging and the course aims to address conflict resolution in a pro social way, by generating good strategies to deal with difficult situations.
The course will specifically focus on feelings, needs, effective communication, good listening skills, setting boundaries and evaluating the programme.
